Safe and Sound Protocol

The Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) is a practical application of Polyvagal Theory, which is designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors by listening to specially-filtered music.

The music in the SSP prioritizes the middle frequencies associated with a melodic human voice, as they convey cues of safety. These frequencies are presented by a process of filtration, where the desired mid-range frequencies are emphasized, and frequencies outside the desired mid-range are de-emphasized. The music is dynamically, progressively filtered.

The Safe and Sound Protocol is a powerful tool for supporting nervous system regulation.

Program Features:

·         50-minute initial consultation. The consultation includes a comprehensive needs assessment to evaluate whether SSP is a right fit, discuss next steps, provide psychoeducation and prepare for the delivery of SSP.

·         One 30-minute session via telehealth to provide support during the initial listening experience.

·         One 30-minute session to review outcomes when terminating program.

·         Delivery of SSP Core and SSP Balance Pathway for a two-month period via Unyte-iLs app.

·         Direct access to Marco via email for questions/concerns that arise during the two-month program.

** Safe and Sound can be facilitated as a adjunctive standalone intervention or as part of on-going psychotherapy.
